The Culturally Incoherent Economy 5

Now, Americans do have a cultural narrative. Americans were good people trying to practice their religion in Europe, but wicked Europe was persecuting them so they moved to America.
From the European point of view, America was a prison colony, a place where they could find Gold or the fountain of youth, etc.
Once America settled in in America, they set out to make themselves autochthonous. One by one, Americans set about to drive out all other races or cultures living in America. From the Anglo-Americans, this included the Dutch, the French, the Spanish, the Native Americans, etc. The French and the Native Americans, I believe, had helped Americans out in their war against England and the War of 1812, is it?
Americans name places and monuments after Native American leaders that they've ritually murdered.
Looking at the 1960's rebellion from a minority standpoint, it was an acknowledgment that minorities could have sex the way that Americans were having sex, that minorities could engage in a study of Eastern mysticism in the way that academics like Joseph Campbell engaged in it in the 1950's. It was an acknowledgment that minorities could lead authentic lives like the characters of Marlon Brando in movies.
But when you look at images from the 1960's, it's all mostly whites. Jimmy Hendrix is one of the only non-whites. Jewish and other minorities I spoke to say that they were not treated in any equal way by the hippies. Don't think hippyism is a non-hierarchical society. It is not. Hippies, nowadays, want everything for nothing and constantly criticize everything.

I didn't think hippies
I didn't think hippies existed anymore. Everybody wants something for nothing, especially the very rich, but they have the power to make sure they get what they want.
