It's a shame about God
Seemed a good idea at the time
But the blood and suffering of children
is too much to ignore
and I can't really believe
that all the scriptures are worth the loss of one life
Pull down the churches
the temples
and mosques
Not one of these is as beautiful
as a pair of wide-open eyes

Trying to see where you're coming from in this, PT. It's because of the suffering, death, sin, that God is doing something. I know we would like him to sort it all out at ths moment,  but just like the prophecies concerning his first coming were fulfilled, so the promises of his return to do so fully will be. Maybe he waits to give us time to be ready ie trusting? I also feel we don't know how much he is helping people in trouble at present, especially when they ask him.
Don't know if that deals at all with your angst? Rhiannon (Oh, I do agree about the irrelevancy of beautiful buildings now, just need somewhere to meet together if we are fellowshipping and praying)

Kind of with you so far, Shannan. Spirit I get. It just all goes to rats when humans get involved. A religion is just another organisation. We all know what happens inside those. It will always be that someone always wants to be God's spokesperson. Village, tribe, country, world. It always has to be someone's way or no way. Well not for me. Not anymore.

Actually, re-reading my own piece, that's what it's saying (your link). Put people first. Just leave out the God bit - and the killing.

... that we, as individuals on our own soul journey, need to be at peace with I reckon ... if there is no peace, then maybe the soul is still trying on options in the fitting room of this world. For me, I can't take God out the picture as I see 'God' as the purest form of concentrated love & I see people as silly billies! I'd rather have love than silliness around me ...
Parson, if you're interested... I did this book called Artist's Way by Julia Cameron & inside was a task to sit & write out my full and long definition of 'God' and who, how, what I view 'Him'/'the concept' as... in the I'm going to let rip mode, I wrote... a few days later I went back & read how I'd conceptualised "God" .... wow! What an experience! I'd love for you to give it a go & " let rip " too :-) it's so worth it! $

Hi Shannan. There's no doubting the love and the goodness in your message and perhaps I'll take a look, but the poem, and my message, is that "religion" took a step too far for me the other week and its account has been running in overdraft for a very long time. Time to wind up its assets from my own personal point of view. Spirituality, one to one, I have no problem with. It's there anyway. Undeniably. Just no more coercion. No more abuse. No more killing. Not in the name of God. Not for anything. Isn't that Peace?

Religion = people wanting power, PEOPLE wanting to be in control, people writing rules, people wanting money ... people killing ... problem for me lies with insecure, self-righteous, soul suffocated people who have incredibly messed up priorities. I can't stand ritual for the sake of it, rules because someone said so decades ago, nonsensical, illogical rules & often thats religion, not God. People, not God. . . Ja, like I typed already. People (religion creators) are silly billys & God is AWESOME :-) ...{opening line: its a shame about people ;-)} ... People are the ones preventing peace & the safety of lives in every respect & it sucks, but thats the gift of free choice... such a delicious topic! Thanks for putting your views out there... totally cool if u think my suggestion above daft ;-) keep well

I'd say you're a beautiful person Shannan. Maybe it's what people do with the term "God". Whatever, religion has ruined too many lives. Stay happy.
