WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR COUNTRY?

Christmas is coming or is it?
Nativity plays declared a danger!!
The powers that be are afraid to offend.
What's offensive about a manger?
This is England we're talking about.
But is it the same as before?
No it isn't and won't be again
If our leaders just watch at the door!!
Lessons in Islam what next?
Our Church schools will go, wait and see!
Girls at the back, or kept out of sight
No singing, no music no glee!!
England is basically Christian
With all its traditions of old.
If others be offended, hard luck
They'll have to stay out in the cold!!

I am not sure if the person
I am not sure if the person in the poem expressing the point of view is identical to the author. Yes this is a point of view and it is clearly expressed. However in my view there are as many English people as there are residents of England. Some of us are Christians, others not. I hope my view does not offend the author.

I wondered if the author was
I wondered if the author was playing 'devil's advocate'. The piece dares to vocalise an opinon, which is a bold thing to do in these days of political correctness. Yet I still sense a touch of mischief in the piece. I may be wrong, but I don't think that the author and the individual within the poem are one and the same...

Hi, Jay. I agree with Elsie
Hi, Jay. I agree with Elsie here. I've read a few of your pieces and it seems to me that these are your personal views (I apoligise if I've misunderstood). These are questions being asked ever increasingly in England, as well as the rest of the U.K as well as wider Europe and America. The sense that 'Britishness' is being sidelined forr multicurturalism. It's a fair anxiety that most people have felt to some extent in their lives - the loss of identity.
Even though I disagree with you (to an extent) politically and socially (on some issues) there's a lot of rawness in your expression (and it's great that you are expressing it creatively!). It's reminiscent of anti-establishment punk.
