Fragile Words

Tap the door to the back of my mind,
awaken my spirit with a healing touch,
rumour has it there's time to linger long
as I lavish in the fruits of my labour,
separating unsavoury from agreeable,
distil and decant my hunger for expression,
the imagination such a mystery to unravel
as one who only senses danger when seen,
unskilled as I am...my trust a natural ease,
you may think of me as unworldly
that I'm fortunate to have come this far,
though faith in a guardian angel unseen
steers me along life's difficult course,
sometimes crossing rivers of indecision,
hard to describe consequences of rash choices,
so many misleading opinions sent to impress,
tempting this occasional weak...fuzzy brain,
compelling me to savour this twilight limbo.

Hi Jenny. This really made me
Hi Jenny. This really made me think. Paths we take in life and how we make those decisions. Sometimes we just have a "gut" instinct. Served us well so far...Nice piece.

Hello Jenny. I'm always on
Hello Jenny. I'm always on and off this so may have just missed you but I've not seen anything from you for a while so wanted to say hope you are ok and nice to see your poem. This is beautifully gentle, almost a quiet conversation that includes us..

soft
and lyrical. I enjoyed your poem, at the last line I wondered if it would read better if you used 'compelled' (more direct) to compelling (less so) to lift the piece.
maisie Guess what? I'm still alive!

I really got the feeling
I really got the feeling behind this, Jenny. Enjoyed reading, and yes, it's gentle - I liked that, too.

i v much enjoyed this
i v much enjoyed this reflection, thoughts that could possibly spiral into worse places stilled and put at peace through the will to, as you say beautifully, 'distil and decant my hunger for expression', ending with the lovely quiet positivity of 'compelling me to savour this twilight limbo'
