Still Waters

Locked down, screwed up tight, you’re not getting in.
Not even a chink of light will creep over the rim.
The nuts are rusted shut so there will not be any more.
Hope that anyone will try to open up that door.
Don’t think you’re any different now due to the lies you bled.
There’s nothing left, there’s nothing else, there’s no more to be said.
Pinned down, no release, nothing’s getting out.
Not even a breath of air has hope of taking flight.
Wooden cages hide so much from people who aren’t free.
Still waters run deep they say no deeper than in me.
