The Long Road

Time rode by on a bicycle, wearing a healer hat,
He was the great freewheeler but his tyres were slightly flat.
Life sped by in a mini moke, shedding his precious load.
Wait for me I said, but he went chortling up the road.
Hope stopped right in front of me, tiny and full of doubt.
She said I am a burden, but one you can’t do without.
I carried her for a lifetime, to the edge of the furthest sea.
Time was there in the shallows. Life slept under a tree.
Look, said Hope, as I put her down, worn to my aching skin.
There on a boat with bright, red sails – Peace was sailing in.

I loved this poem Catherine, especially the idea of peace sailing in...great thought.
