PrIde has ME inthe middle,
I am the kIng of me
I make the rules, do as I choose,
and am so pleased to be
the best of all,
I’ll never fall
to messes or distresses.
I get so angry,
filled with envy,
greed, when others get the praise,
I have no friends,
for upward bends
my nose, and there my gaze …

– why did I slip?
how did I trip?
that hole I did not see!    

why do they laugh at me?

I love the end of this, the way 'pride comes before a fall' for the arrogant little person in the poem.
