The Comfort of Quiet

There is a moment of choice,
sweet tension,
hold that long note of silence.
Eventually they tire of asking,
shake their heads,
accept you will not speak.
Slip into invisibility
see everything
say nothing.
The noise of others
overwhelms your silent nucleus
allowing you to be
quiet
comforted
safe
listen
to the sounds
in your mind

Speaking on public can provide that strong emotion, that holds you on, blocked inside..., it's so comfortable to be quiet in those moments.
Nice words, Philip!

Hi Helen
Hi Helen
Beautifully written and very true. Silence can be very powerful and convey more than words possibly could.

A great relief when having
A great relief when having the strength to hold quiet when pushed or tempted to speak hastily.

Have a peaceful day!
