No Man an Island (IP)

Media brilliant lifestyles flaunt,
and peers tease and taunt,
boast their jollity,
popularity,
and depress those feeling they have less,
unaware those thrills
illusory, elusive,
brightly glow
then melt like snow;
and ‘friends’ who offer
drugs or pills
or too much drink
don’t pause to think,
to care if they ruin,
no friendliness genuine,
booze abuse,
and then accuse
of behaviour sunk
unreasonably, unseasonably
uninhibitedly drunk;
– no hand outstreched to solid ground
where things that don’t bite-back are found,
with boost unobtrusive
to life uncorrosive,
to stay alert,
the soothing, dulling swig to curb,
disturb
the slide to comfort that will hurt.
