“Dad! Mum!” (IP)

His Dad could
fix most anything
with bits of string
or glue or screw
and wire or nail
– and if that fail,
with lots of tape:
he’d somehow get it back in shape,
bring toys to life again …
his Mum could
fix cuts with a kiss,
find words to calm
a playground storm,
a balm for sneers
that hurt and harm
like stones and sticks,
and hearts that burn
from shame or fears …
… they’d match and mix
in the things they’d fix
… in fact, not bad –
his Mum and Dad.

Hi Rhiannon, I agree with
Hi Rhiannon, I agree with Linda when she said this poem reminded her of her dad, it did remind me of mine too. Also the bit about Mum fixing cuts with a kiss...how right those words are. Where would we be without them? Great poem and full of love. Thank you for sharing this beauty. Jenny.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
This is a lovely little poem. So nice to have fixing roles for both mum and dad.
