sad old man taking a shit

it swings out of me,
like a tired conker.
a sigh in the water.

i don't know when,
i started looking
in on it,
curled in the bowl.

mercifully,
blood free.

i hold on
to the scorched
toilet roll dispenser;
wondering when,
my balls
became last year's
arid pine cones.

just an old man,
taking a shit.
muttering
spent glories
to no one.
