Shaded in the shallow inks

behind a screen

of bristling mauves, and in

amongst the strokes 

of reeds and fluted quills, we cleave

 

to lines; fine anchored wishes

to be moored with just our words

for one quiet hour; a reckless year

unnoticed by the tide.

 

Afloat in deep reflections, lulled

on breaths of prayer we sleep - we wake

refreshed and swim; we walk

the paths of tranquil thoughts,

the faithful loping at our heels,

 

all heading in in the same direction -

home to where the heart is.

This little snip of reminscence has the echo of past regrets and yet it's message seems very much tied to the future.

This is such a beautiful poem Bee, it carries me on a silent ripple of peace and tranquillity and goes so well with the picture...love the colours too.

This has such an escapist lull and sense of restoration. Language is delicate and to have just one hour unprecedented for talk alone would be my dream. Your poem has a vintage impression to it that you want to take away with you and hold your dear ones close.

Thank you for reading and commenting on this. Re - the last line, I agree with you - it is rather cliche - had thought so myself, but in this case, I will leave it because for me at this time, it was the point of my poem. Really appreciate the advice though - and you are right.

Just read this and the sense of tranquility and quiet reflection really came across to me.  I loved this line

We need poets like you to show us the world in a poetic framework as opposed to the media framework with its directed writing.  Thinking of you.
