A Worrying Thought

Here I am in my purple dress
ripe and ready to be plucked.
I’m also under a lot of stress
as I fear that I maybe chucked.
With the complexion of a peach
I am very well and in good nick
yet I seem to be out of reach;
people may think that I’m sick.
I am asked why I am so glum
and who I’m trying to impress
seeing that I am a kind of plum;
I say I am a damson in distress.

Oh, you took me by surprise with your lovely last line! Gave me a nice smile. I wouldn't want to chuck them despite the many stones – a beautiful taste. There's a lot of these around now I guess, those its the bitter sloes I've noticed. Rhiannon

Very amusing, love the last lines. :) Got a damsen and plum in my garden, young trees that aren't producing much yet and the wasps got to them first. Next year I will pick them in time!

Ah, Luigi...that plum of yours really did catch my eye. We have plum trees and mirabelles (tiny little golden plums) and as you say, it has been a bumper year. Also for apples and pears of which we are inundated.
Loved your little ditty, especially that last line which is a gem
