The Return of a Familiar Face

Winter tapped us on the shoulder
today, reminding us he’s booked a
ticket and packed his bags of cold
wind, driving rain, frost and snow.
This morning the house acquired
a forgotten, yet familiar, feeling
of hunkered down life. Grey sky
windows brood behind curtains;
rooms fill with a humid perfume
of clothes drying over radiators
for the first time in months; low-
light arousing a cosy ambiance.

Loved the ambience you've
Loved the ambience you've created in this poem, gives a sense of the coming season and thoughts of cosy candle lit nights. Thoughts also of something missing...may be a loved one linger in the back of the mind.
LIked this a lot.
Jenny.
