first date
your glasses
are large, and bingo smeared,
despite a vigorous duster;
you need to see your way home.
you've gone
for soft blusher
and a low-zip hoodie,
that hints at lazy Sundays,
without throwing it away
like a life-ring.
he's opted for
clenched freckled arms,
mixed grill
and superman boxers,
your dizzying
expectation,
so much Kryptonite.
two absent souls,
clueless
in desperation.
you overchew
your chips
in silence.
he cuts his pie,
like Mum's watching.
if you have sex
tonight,
i think we all know,
that'll be
the Wednesday £2 doubles.

Oh this is so sweet and disarmingly witty. I can picture it. In fact, I've been there in a similar ensemble. I like how you use such precision to paint this couple, it feels light and very memorable. The kryptonite, special boxers, easy access clothes, mixed grill, the elephant in the bingo hall. It's all there. Perhaps make it 'silence' rather than 'as silence' to avoid duplication on next line? See what you think.
