Breathed - (poetry monthly)

I'm posting this today for Steve, who passed away a week last Friday. It was badly recorded in a friend's son's bedroom a couple of years ago after Steve gave me a few chords and the words of the song he had been playing around with on and off for some time but getting nowhere with, I came up with this, and when I gave it to him he said it was nothing like what he had in mind, but was thrilled with it anyway. Trouble was, I think it may have knocked his own inspiration out of the window coz he never did finish his own version of the song. His funeral is today.
RIP dear friend x
Breathed - with words by Stephen Ward - (Mango the Chutneyman)
When breathing gets difficult
and sleeping impossible
you know it's time for you to get back on the dirt track
to where you lost your mind
in the gaze of her eyes
in her fragile smile and get in with your life
before you fade and are lost forever
you'd better pull yourself together
and get on with your life
Thought I saw you steal a glance
then look away again
Thought I heard you whisper we could be more than friends
Didn't you reach inside of me
and take my breath away
or has my imagination let me down again?
Breathe life into me
You breathed life into me
You breathed life into me -
You came to me
and you breathed...
Now I'm missing you every day
they tell me life goes on
I'm a little boat who's lost his way - just drifting along
No I won't curl up and die
May even try to smile
Though there's sadness behind my smile
I was breathless for a while
But you breathed life into me
You breathed life into me
You breathed life into me
You came to me
and you breathed
Won't you come back
and breathe
again

Sorry for the loss of a dear
Sorry for the loss of a dear friend, Bee.I hope the service is fitting somehow for his greatness. Can't listen yet as Beef asleep but the way you use breathed has a hypnotic effect, the sequence is characteristic of breathing. A soothing one in sound but emotional content contradicts it

Just listened to the song. Was about to share it with friends on Facebook but thought to ask if you mind first. It's so beautiful. Stood the hairs up on my neck.

Bee, what a talanted lady you
Bee, what a talanted lady you are, listening to that music brought a tear to my eye. This is such a wonderful tribute to your friend Steve. I do hope the funeral goes okay. The words are like a prayer and sung with such feeling and emotion. Beautifully done.

Beautiful singing voice, Bee.
Beautiful singing voice, Bee.
The content seems to touch on how when friendship shouldn't slide further, there can be strength for it to yield something very mutually enriching instead. Rhiannon

Tender and moving, Deborah.
Tender and moving, Deborah. Wonderful interperetation. He must have been happy to hear it. I almost didn't want to listen just yet. But I had to. I do find a kind of solace in the sadness. It helps me stay in touch with my own feelings instead of burying them with frivilous distractions. You've a lovely voice and did the lyrics an incredible justice. Think of you often. 'Never more than a thought away,' as Tina quoted.
Much love to you,

we're all little boats,
we're all little boats, islands of ourselves, drifting along, but that's a mighty nice song.
