Please don't hurt me, I swear I'll be good,

I beg you to leave me alone,

I'll try my best to behave as I should,
 
I long for the care you've been shown.
 
I know that sometimes you're angry with me,
 
I apologise 100 times,
 
I know I'm not what you want to see,
 
I just always misread the signs.
 
Please don't hurt me, you're all that I fear,
 
It's from you that I try to hide,
 
You push me away, I try to draw near,
 
Walking so wounded each time.
 
I want to be friends please don't turn away,
 
It seems that I never give up,
 
I just don't know what you're going to say,
 
Or the next time that you will erupt.
 
Please don't hurt me, I can't take much more,
 
I am losing my strength every day,
 
I forgive every time, I don't keep a score,
 
I retreat once again just to pray.
 
Please don't hurt me, I don't want to fight,
 
We were always meant to be friends,
 
I'm your body and I'm scared one day this might,
 
Be how our relationship ends.

Yes Rhiannon, very much so. I think it's progress to finally realise it's a 2 way conversation and not a monologue though :-) ie the body has a voice just as desperate to be heard as the one in your head.

Thank you. I had absolutely no idea where I was going with it when I started writing it but I thought it would be an interesting conversation to have the body in distress rather than the mind :-)

Thank you :-)  The thing with my poems is I never actually know where i'm going with them. It's like story emerges as I write and it's just as much a surprise for me as it is for the reader lol :-)

Thank you. I'm kind of at the stage of just being totally honest because it's something we so rarely are with mental health issues. I just hope that my poems may resonate with someone who needs to read that they aren't alone and someone really does understand.
