Born a bud,
curled in, coiled.
For warmth;
for radiant light,
waiting.
spiralled petals fan,
once tight, leafy
arms spread to the sun;
a flower smiling
at Spring skies.
She dances,
swirling - glorious -
peach, tipped pink.
but as seasons change,
light fades
and so does glory.
Rose wilts and petals fall.
Leaves weep loss
but hail and sing
as ripe red fruit swells,
Rose's legacy,
her offspring.
She continues,
year on year.
Peach, tipped pink
as sunsets bloom,
compassion reborn.
