Mid-winter wander

(13/1/16 South of Hope Dale, Wenlock Edge)
Gaunt brooms scratching blue sky,
saturated fields and leaf mulch, mud,
watery brightness;
up a steep track, water flowing
over weathered rock slabs,
and piles of loam
churned and grooved
by occasional tyres;
stop, look back over the valley –
bright hills, and woods;
up at the top, the rain returns,
lightly at first,
walk down through the wood,
soggy track,
embedded spear heads, spiky patches
– don’t squash, get stabbed!
white drops on the tips of some -
wild snowdrops are coming!

I love to see the snowdrops
I love to see the snowdrops arrive. Makes me think it's almost spring. Another thing I love is your nature poems, Rhiannon. And this one, too.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
this is such a wonderful time of year for rambles and yours sounds great, especially when shared with a loved one.
Very much enjoyed reading and thank you for sharing.
Jenny.

Such magic you conjure up
Such magic you conjure up with your words, Rhiannon...outdone, only, by nature, itself

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Such a treat, seeing those tiny perfect little flowers. But I expect the frost has got them, like the rest of the stuff in the garden. But I know we will see them reemerge soon.
