Right now the sun is blowing
and the wind is shining;
the rain is coming down in elevators,
whilst the trees are waving in the fog.
It snows in spring and winter sun
bakes arroyos dry.
These are the end times,
the climate is changing.
Help, the sky is falling!

We expect the new ice age
and global warming all at once.
Fools believe two centuries
of statistics and forget millennia
of history.

Maybe an acorn has fallen -
look up - the sky overarches,
as it always has.

'rain is coming down in elevators,' I like that, and the chicken Licken fear factor is well drawn. But I think you'll find the sky is falling down on our heads. Wish it was an acorn... Or is it?wink

there is no argument. Climate change has happened and is happening. However, both sides of the debate manipulate the statistics for their own use. The-Sky-is-Falling-In Group seem to no more than acknowledge , if not just ignore, the 300 year cycles and millenial (ice age?) cycles to the extent that the melting ice caps and the predictions of 4 and 5 degrees within 25 years are all they focus on. By the same token, the Acorn Group, completely pooh-pooh the effect of 300 years of industrialisation and the concomitant carbon-based fuel usage on the overall picture.

Something is falling. It probably isn't an acorn, but it certainly isn't the sky. Instead of the insane name-calling from either side, wouldn't it be better to do unbiased, rigorous research and see what the scale of the problem really is and thereby make a concerted effort to reverse the damage (sky) or contain the damage (acorn). As I say, the answer falls (ha, see what I did there) somewhere between the two camps' points of view.

I suppose, by expecting some kind of consensus, I'm as gullible as Chicken Little.
