I’m just sitting here watching the world going to hell in a handcart. Don’t build the Thatcher statue yet: she might be to blame.
The competitive spirit / winner takes all. Everywhere, people are at each other’s throats. There’s no tolerance; no sympathy; no compromise; only hatred, and the game.
Playing to win.
I’m hearing angry voices on someone’s TV. How long before they come to blows? Whole nations are split down the middle, with neither side seeing the other as friend or equal. Well, guess what? There ain’t that much room on this planet. We’re gonna have to get along or we’re all fucked. That’s you and me, too.
In chandeliered halls, people are clinking gin and tonics, congratulating each other that it was good while it lasted. How eminently human.
The natural order: destruction, pain and suffering. We almost had it beat once.

So well written- temper and tone are hard hitting. I am struck by it. Truth is always so hard...and you have sent speared words into my brain. They are pain and reality and you voiced it so well. I see the end and pray for a miracle...any hope in a greedy storm...and yes, I hope we still can beat it...foolish optimist am I.
