Pembrokeshire in April

Bank-lined lanes –
slopes spattered with soft-pale primroses,
and celandine sparkles,
clumps of scurvy grass, tippex-white;
carpets of golden saxifrage
beneath the leafless trees;
cliff paths pregnant for May colour burst
with here and there some opening buds,
a first early thrift –
soon will exuberantly drift,
and squill, May’s blue-star swathe,
a little splash of yellow rattle,
cushions of sea campion breaking into flower;
hedgerows alive with birds,
gulls shout and swirl above the sea
crows caw and red-beaked cliff chough peck.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I love how the names of the flowers as you have used them, make such a lovely picture of spring.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
this has got to be one of my favourite poems of yours. It made me want to walk out with nature and breathe in that wonderful freshair, taking in the spring colours too.
Mastered beautifully.
Jenny.

My Favourite Part...
... the pregnant part... just gave me the wonder of 9 months of other seasons - all playing their part of the cycle of life to give birth to the beauty of spring in all her joyous beauty and glory :) Thank-you. * Cyber hugs *

What a treat Rhiannon, thanks for this, it's painted a picture in my mind I needed to see. Pembrokeshire is truly stunning, wish I was there, walking the coastal path..
