A moonmaid lived upon the moon;
the loveliest moonmaid by far.
She sang a lovely lunar tune
and combed her long hair with a star.
the loveliest moonmaid by far.
She sang a lovely lunar tune
and combed her long hair with a star.
But then one day an Astronaut
in a red rocket ship arrived
and, by him, the moonmaid was caught.
He took her home to be his wife.
in a red rocket ship arrived
and, by him, the moonmaid was caught.
He took her home to be his wife.
Oh how the moonmaid, she did cry
because she missed the home she loved.
Whenever it shone in the sky
she'd moan out to the moon above.
because she missed the home she loved.
Whenever it shone in the sky
she'd moan out to the moon above.
But then one day she had a son,
a silver child with wings of chrome.
He told his mother just climb on
my back and I will take you home.
a silver child with wings of chrome.
He told his mother just climb on
my back and I will take you home.
Then back up to the moon they flew;
that mother and her silver boy
and on its silver sands she threw
her arms up and she danced with joy.
that mother and her silver boy
and on its silver sands she threw
her arms up and she danced with joy.

I've always been a sucker for moon tales, well-wisher. Good to read this on my, otherwise, boring commute home.
