The Toe

The Toe

 

of his boot

makes contact with a pebble,

one sticking out

among the pile,

and it travels slow-motion

across the road and

plops into a small stream

the kind you discover

watching for pollywogs

knowing one day they’d turn

into a frog,

and that was a good thing.

Hello Rhiannonw, thank you for the encouraging word, Yes, we never used the word tadpole when I was much younger than my present 74, although I discovered much later both words represented the same thing. And checking with my dictionary, pollywog is also spelled polliwog. Esther and I had a great three week visit in northern BC, YET glad to be home again. All the best, Richard.
