in the shroud

crying out loud

God is hunger
God is need
God is selfishness
and greed

God is a pulpit
God is prayers
God is the orphan
who stands and stares

God is difference
God is race
God is the shock
on the victim’s face

God is a world
we know to be wrong
God is the right
to carry on

God is presidents
God is kings
God is the sum
of all these things
