Paper Mache Towns

 

Moulded  paper.

Unfolding in vivid colours:

Mauve skies jewelled

With brilliant white clouds

 

A town we imagined 

For our offspring!

Paper Mache Towns

Devoid of machetes

And gunpowder.

Gothic churches, intricate synagogues and

Azure tiled mosques interlinking,

In camaraderie.

 

Latticework of canopies!

 

Trees emerald green

Oaks, cypresses, acacias of the Ottomans

Pines releasing minty aromas

Lakes Azure, deep,  waves interwoven with cotton dreams

Tulips unfolding, billowing in silky terrains

 

No famines

For wheat is bountiful

No bounties placed 

On the heads of the liberals.

 

Caramel fields of corn.

Sunbeams shooting through our core

Healing  the ills of the yesteryears.

 

Can you: the omniscient 

Blow life

Into our paper Mache Towns?

Full of colour and life - I really like this poem Yasemin. 

If you want to tidy it up a bit (really worth it, as it's so good) - here are some typos:

jeweled (us) jewelled (uk)

'Interlinking!

In commandeer!' - I don't think comandeer is the right word here, but I can't work out what you're trying to say, so can't suggest another

emerald

'For wheat are bountiful' - is bountiful

acaisas - acacias?

thank you insert. unfortunately, my computer has autocue. it keeps messing up with the words if it is a little bit misspelt and americanise it. i should have proof read it before posting. amended now. once again thank you.

autocorrect is a pain in the bottom isn't it! There should be an off button for it somewhere if you look carefully

Good note that 'Bountiful wheat, and caramel fields of corn' when there is a cessation of fighting, and hatred. Rhiannon

Good evening Yasemin, I so like this poem, written with feeling. "Interwoven with cotton dreams" says a lot to me. If only this world could be as you described.

Hi YaseminB. Lovely poem echoing the feelings so many of us have. But I'm afraid it never will be so. Not while mankind is still in existence. Never was. Never will be. But keep the dream going it's the best we can do.
