When I'm with you I feel safe.
Your arms are home.
I pull them around me
like a blanket I could doze inside for days.
Sometimes
when we're lying on my bed
wrapped around each other like stitches in fabric
I smile to myself because
you're my keeper.
I handed you the soil from my heart
and you grew flowers in your palm.
You look at me with eyes swimming in love
and I cry an ocean of devotion.
You kiss poetry on my lips
and I crumble softly into love letters.
Most importantly
your head fits perfectly in the pocket of my neck
between my chin and my chest
where my heart beats most rapidly upon seeing your face.
And so
I will these hands,
this mind,
this heart,
these lips,
to your guardianship
for half a day,
a week,
a month,
a year,
a lifetime,
or so.
And how marvelously this plant flourishes in your care.
