Why do acorns wear little caps?
Protection for their heads, perhaps
as they bump them upon the Earth
falling from oak trees of their birth.

Or perhaps just to keep them warm
through Autumn winds and Winter storms
for Acorns who survive that freeze
will grow, themselves, to great oak trees.
