Peeping at the Borrowed Plumes
By Rhiannonw

Footsteps, voices echo in the hall,
Mam and Dad are going to the ball,
with Grandad, Gran and Auntie Sue
– let’s peep through the banisters for a view
of glittering jewels on sparkling dress,
jackets and waistcoats made to impress –
borrowed from the actors’ vintage collection,
bedecked for a night for this special invitation.
Oh, I’d love to draw and sew, design
dresses like that, which swish, swirl and shine!

A vivid image of childrens
A vivid image of childrens peeping through the banisters - perhaps in contravention of their parents order - and being impressed by the unusual and colourful attire of their relations.
Well done on the cherries, Rhiannon.

Sweet and lovely. I love that
Sweet and lovely. I love that the narrator admires the artistry of the dresses and wants to make them, instead of wishing to emulate the wearers.
