[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

God made a special star one day,
and wise men came from far away.
They understood a wonderful thing –
a baby had been born our King,
     Sing, sing of him the wonderful King,
     our love and honour to him bring.

An angel told the shepherds, ‘Go!,
God’s love and joy and peace to know;
In Bethlehem the baby boy
is King to bring you peace and joy.'

At Christmas time  we have a lot
of presents, fun, but we must not
forget that Jesus is the best –
by him we can be loved and blessed.

I hope your hymns are sung, Rhiannon. Someone in the church at the end of this street writes hymns, which are played and sung with gusto. Merry Christmas to you and yours. X

and yes, some of my hymns/Christian songs do get sung. I think I follow more in the trend of the older songs that made joyful summaries of Christian doctrine and application to life, than the more recent desire for subjective songs, which speak very personnally of experience and feelings. But I hope writing these things afresh gives clarity as language changes etc. can dim the meaning of some old treasures! Rhiannon

It's quite a progressive church. Quite subjective, probably. It's very welcoming, though. A nice atmosphere. It's nice to have the variety. I'm glad to hear some of them get sung. Keeps the heart and soul of the place alive.
