equals an ‘X’,

the signature

of political illiterates

everywhere.

 

The vox populi interviews

trot out the same cloacal tripe:

 

“The immigrants are in hotels

they do nothing, they live well."

 

There are immigrants in hotels,

they are carrying the mop and bucket.

They must be invisible

to the bigoted blind.

 

The politico misquotes

an ancient proverb

‘the voice of the people

is the voice of God’.

 

But Frankie Pope knows:

this just means

that populism

is irresistible.

The answer to overpopulation in areas of the world with a lot of young people and no work cannot be encouraging them to make dangerous/ lethal trips so they can find marginal jobs.

One of the problems with aid has been not pointing out that consigning women to the birthing stool will just make the next tranche of young people who have to fight or migrate because nothing at home can support them.

Multiculti is a self serving sentimental doctrine that sacrifices the very people is seeks to help.

The worse thing ever was permitting Afghans to pass a law making it legal to starve to death any wife who wouldnt put out (or couldnt because of fistula).

The Millenial goals about women were the only ones not met. That has consequences.

Berlesconi looks like a Taxidermist has been at work.

I don't have a problem with 'multiculturalism' because it's pretty much what human beings have always done - travelled, cross-fertilised culture, political ideas, language.  As you say though, Camilla, forced migration through war, repression or economic catastrophe is never a good thing, and the situation of women in many countries is particularly dire.  I'm not sure it's overpopulation though, but rather the destruction of societies and natural resources through exploitation and proxy wars.  Aid is usually a sticking plaster, and now there are even more questions about its delivery, and quite honestly I often feel I don't understand the question, never mind understanding what an answer might be.

Smart poem, Ewan.  The problem with the populus is that, like its deus, it tends to think it's infallible.

It is overpopulation because of child marriage and polygamy. War,pestilence, famine, and mass migration are the "natural" ways of staying in balance.

Obviously humans can do better.

There is no high birth rate   country which is peaceful and prosperous. The proxy wars are fought by overpopulated countries.

By mid century 40% of the worlds children will be in Africa.

about it, interventionism is a mug's game. Soft power doesn't work either. Perhaps we should only allow women to emigrate? I think you could make a case for asylum for people in danger of FGM, murder, sexual tyranny and the endless litany of male oppression throughout the world. I do sometimes wonder if our First World failure to root out  the Weinsteins of this world is entirely down to our "easy out", which is to point the finger at Islam and the more radical Christian countries in Africa.

I'm in favour of immigration. I feel obliged to be, for a number of reasons. I'm against the political system in the UK which has mismanaged the Welfare State into disaster. I have no answers, but I think the questions are the wrong ones too.
