She Looked Nice

She looked nice today.
I didn’t
tell her
- of course.
All looks are sideways now,
around the office
men touch
the bridge of their nose,
tug an earlobe:
displacement activities,
we know, we are not
cavemen.
Last year,
I would have smiled,
she might have smiled back.
There might have been a drink
at the pub round the corner
after work. Or not,
but there might have been.
She’ll look nice tomorrow,
I won’t
tell her
- of course.

She'll survive not being told
She'll survive not being told she looks nice.
If you're her boss or already in a relationship, keep on tugging your earlobe.
If not, go on, ask her if she'd like to go out for a drink. She may accept if she doesn't think you're asking her just because she looks nice.
Oh, you are asking her just because she looks nice...
(I do know this is a hypothetical situation )

If only some other 56 year old men would follow your example and remember they're not 26 any more, we might not be in this mess! I mean no disrespect to perfectly decent 26 year olds.

The thing is
I remember when working in a supermarket (about twenty years ago?) having a conversation with a co worker, several years younger than me, about various people in our respective departments and what they were like to work with. I was trying to describe a young man training to be produce manager, height, haircolour etc and after a bit she said "oh, the one with the nice bum?" I knew she knew who it was then. Sadly for morale he went off to be a fireman

Nothing wrong with admiring a nice bum, on either gender. It's just recognising that the admiration doesn't give you the right to feel it up!

Hum. Maybe this is not the right place to put this, apologies Ewan for lowering the tone.
Is it alright to discuss appearances though? For instance coming across male colleagues discussing breast sizes of people working on their department. One young girl found out her nickname was poached eggs and asked why. Is not nice
