winter fingered
earth safed. Now
joined as prayer
clasped hands
they come up
from darkness
forgotten hopes
open for the sun.
Fragile, green
growing secrets

Very clever! I love seeing those first leaves emerging, and the simple cotyledon leaves often making food so that the more complex leaves can then grow. I liked this very much. The fragility and freshness of new leaves is lovely too isn't it, and such a good idea for the IP. Rhiannon

I can't believe I missed
I can't believe I missed reading this beauty Di. I love the way you describe the tiny leaves as clasped hands joined in prayer. I always love to sow marigold seeds, they're so easy to grow and your poem described exactly how they first appear.
Very much enjoyed.
Jenny.
