Once upon a time there was a prince
Or was it a dragon?
I don’t remember.
This is what happens when you find yourself in the wrong story.
I know there was a wolf. Reader,
I married him. He saved me from the prince
(Or was it a dragon)
But could not save me from the ever after.
I became my grandmother, a grey-haired
Snaggle toothed witch in the wood.
I remember snow, spotted red.
Was it her blood?
The huntsman knows, or the woodcutter,
The men whose job is carving out hearts.
They stole my wolf, my dragon-prince,
My girl with crimson lips and cloak.
Or is it my heart that was stolen?
In the wood there is a tree.
It has roots that reach through tales and years.
Perhaps there I can find
My story again.
I am not sure this is at all what was intended by the IP, but I was inspired and this is where it led me. And fairy tales are fictional, right?

yes confusion reigns and sometimes we get lost, but the story is always behind us, or in front of us.

The Inspiration Point takes you wherever you like, and this is a pretty good place! Lovely weaving of the tale.

Something surreal about this
Something surreal about this poem. Makes you read it again. Original and unexpected. I like it.
