the scent of fond memory

 

shakes its hardy wooden frame

ingloriously in the wind

 

baked by the sun – shuttered

from rain where

a family once reigned.

Yes they do, Jenny. Whenever I enter an older home seemingly abandoned in the countryside I look beyond the newspaper insulation, cracked windows and refuse crunching under my feet. And my spirit feels the laughter and patter of feet as a family rushes about doing their daily living.
