The Melting Iceberg
The melting iceberg
Should fill us with fear.
It is showing us all
The end is near.
What can we do
To change this plight?
Coerce world leaders
In an eco fight.
For all of the time
The clock is ticking
Down towards doomsday
Where the earth takes a kicking.
To lose so much
Of our heritage
Makes the world
A very mean average.
The beauty of the earth
Is so at risk,
Nature’s glory
Becoming an imperfect disc.
So please act now
To save the planet,
And show your heart
Is not made of granite.
(A plea to Donald Trump)

god, I'm with you on this one
god, I'm with you on this one Hilary. But a plea to Donald Trump is time wasted. The legacy we shall leave our children and grandchildren is drought, wars, hunger and all those other apocalyptic horses that Trump and his supporters think aren't profitable and nothing to do with them. that is our great sorrow.

You make such a valid point
You make such a valid point in this poem Hilary. It brings tears to my eyes when I think of the icebergs melting and the fact that it's our future generations that will suffer the terrible consequences of now.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Jenny.

Hi, Hilary. Well-written
Hi, Hilary. Well-written challenge.
I do have to balance in my mind the need for all of us individually, and in political pressures, the fact of sometimes conflicts of concerns needing attention with study of how to help some really poor people that might have their subsistence level impacted badly in the short term, depending on how things are implemented. And also, awareness that whatever gets put right, this earth is 'running down' and has problems which can only be put right by 'being made new' as God has promised. That is not to lessen our individual and governmental responsibilities, but also to urge people to be right with God for whenever the real end-time comes. Rhiannon
