Tree Speaks

Don't leave,
you are not ready yet,
and,
I like how you seek
my solid support.
That's it, sit against me,
slow your fretting self.
The answer to your problem
is crowded by your thoughts.
Be patient, as I am -
it's how I grew this strong.
What I lack in immediacy
I make up for
with time.

Was this poem inspired by that very lovely image? It fits in with it so well.
Just a practical point - you have credited the picture to the blog but I'm wondering if, as the blog marks everything as copyrighted, you have specific permission to use this image? I couldn't see a creative commons licence on the blog but you may have sorted that, or the image may appear under a creative commons licence elsewhere. Sorry to be fussy, but we have to be careful we don't infringe anyone's copyright and end up being sued!

Wonderful piece of nature in
Wonderful piece of nature in this poem. I'm a tree hugger, especially when I'm out in the forest, so could immediately identify with this beauty.
Thank you for sharing.

lord of the rings
There is a part in "Lord of the Rings" where an ancient forest's trees are alive in the sense they can walk too and speak. The trees are infinitely wise and incredibly strong. Tolkien must have been unbelievably brilliant. Named something like middle earth there is a whole world and it's history he created. I think he must have been a bit mad also.
I enjoyed his story though a bit of a marathon read.

Many congratulations on the publication. It really is a splendid piece. I assume we're all right to keep it on this site, we won't be contravening any contract you have with them over publication?
No, I don't spend my whole life fussing about photo copyrights and publishing rights - just want to make sure everything works as it should for everyone!

Would you mind popping that
Would you mind popping that link and a brief bit about The Curlew on the forums? More people will see it there and it might be a great opportunity for some of our nature writers. Thank you!
