the more people run away
the less there is to escape to
the more beauty we buy
the less room we have for truth
we fuel our vehicles with tomorrows
trying to find somewhere like yesterday

I love seeing that someone's been inspired by another person's work on here, and this is the second time in as many days (see Jenny's piece inspired by celticman). This is short but says everything needed - thank you for posting it Di

'Somewhere like yesterday'
'Somewhere like yesterday' sad truth in these words and it's a beautiful poem too. Thanks for linking it to mine. I also love to see work inspired by other writers on here as I'm so often inspired myself.

The frustrations of life can
The frustrations of life can give a false picture of the past, but also a looking for a false kind of utopia, and missing what can be now, and the hope of better that can be.
Meanwhile inventions that have been and are beneficial will usually get misused too, or become a disappointing idol, too much satisfaction expected from them! Rhiannon

Oddily enough, Di, this poem
Oddly enough, Di, this poem brings to mind the principles of the economic law of diminishing returns: you can invest more and more resources but eventually a saturation point will be reached. It is a meataphor for life itself as your piece reveals. While we aspire to greater achievements there is a limit to our ambitions and some of our actions will have a negative effect.

I second that, Luigi.
I second that, Luigi. Materialism has its limitations and the cost will be great one day. And one day has a habit of coming around.
Nice piece, Di.

Your wise words ring so true
Your wise words ring so true Di, reminding me that It's only now I'm older and slowing down that the simpler things in life mean so much more.
Thank you for sharing.

Good morning Di, and thank
Good morning Di, and thank you for your concern. No I've not had them back yet. I went into the surgery for a blood test on Monday and although the x ray was on the computer, the doctor hadn't had time to look at the results. I was told to ring the surgery in a couple of days, so I'm leaving it till Thursday, hopefully by then the doctor will have looked at the x ray.
Thanks again.
Jenny.

Hello again Di,
Hello again Di,
I'm fine sitting and sleeping, it's walking I'm finding difficult. Luckily my partner gives me a lot of support and cheers me up when I'm feeling down. I'm so thankful to have him.
I very much appreciate your words. Thank you so much.
Jenny.
