Brown mud,
    and earth where flowers grow,
trees in the winter
    before the leaves show,
spiders that scuttle,
    and coffee and tea,
thick gravy on dinner,
    and sparrows we see
out in the garden,
    where sunshine browns me!

What a lovely idea for the IP Rhiannon! I especially like this one, but the others are great too. This would make a lovely collection to read aloud to very small children. Do you know someone who could illustrate them?

There's something so comforting about the colour brown. I love your use of the colour, especially loved thick gravy on dinner...just how I like mine. Those little sparrows, where would we be without them in our gardens? 

Great use of the I P Rhiannon and much enjoyed.

P S Funnily enough this is the colour of my kitchen, with a little bit of green added to the walls, It's such a calming colour.

Yes, that sounds a lovely decor for a kitchen, very like the nature outside that you love! I think the thick gravy tiickles my taste buds too!These are very short to be posted seperately, but there did seem the insistance on concentrating on one colour! Rhiannon

All natural things in this one. Clever to think of sun making you brown! I bet that would appeal to a child. And not just gravy, thick gravy :0) And scuttling spiders. What great variety of emotions you evoke here!

Thanks, again! I think children's things need to be packed with vividness probably. I thought scuttle was spelt with a 'k' at first, like 'skittle'. Confusing English spelling! Rhiannon

there is a skuttle, though? It's a sort of jug to put coal in next to the fire I think? Maybe you remember reading that

All the dictionaries I've consulted seem to spell that with a 'c' too?! I would again have gone for a 'k'! Rhiannon

ha, you are right! It's I who must have read it,in something, sorry :0) All the useful sensible things I could have remembered instead of the wrong way to spell scuttle....
