is she -- hidden
within her babbling voice
content on
a morning walk with
groceries tied
to a walker – purse alongside.
One step then another
(embracing coloured Mall tiles)
taking her somewhere
she knows – once
a professor
with knowledgeable skills
reciting as if she’s
still lecturing at Dalhousie U--
a touch of Dementia
her best friend these days.

Hi Richard,
keeping the brain active is so important. We can only do our best as we get older. Your poem was sad, but brings home the reality of growing old we can learn from.
Jenny.
