promised. I’ll clean
my mess she intoned
my fault I spilt
my cereal. Promise.
But she forgot after
seeing how beautiful
it was outside. She
had to get out and
say hello to the sunshine.
Suddenly she remembered
yes she did. Will
mother forgive me
she spoke aloud
and just then a
Monarch butterfly
landed on her hand
and wings fluttered
so quickly as if
to say yes she will.
