Nameless

I had a name once,
a word to identify,
to specify and signify,
that separates one from another,
a recognition; to be called by or for,
a name for letters and bills
and emails, postcards, bank cards,
certificates and deeds,
headstones and wills,
everything is in a name
or something is, at least,
a name to know me,
a name to show you,
faceless in its absence,
perhaps I was careless,
misplaced it, or one day awoke
and it’d been stolen or just forgotten or
maybe I was always
this untameable,
unnameable,
nameless thing.

Hi, my nameless fellow writer
Hi, my nameless fellow writer,
I have been following your progress and noticed that you have been prolific of late with excellent submissions that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
What I found interesting though was that you were inspired to write this by being asked your name and reading it reminded me of an old poem of mine dealing with ID loss. I may be tempted to resurrect it.
Best wishes, Luigi

or maybe you outgrew it. Or
or maybe you outgrew it. Or life's lexicon discovered you had been mislabelled all the time
