Periods Of Joy

Dear diary...at last beauty
can be viewed from our
conservatory, able to see
adorned limbs interwoven,
roses climbing up in between,
as gusty wind takes them in a
dance...brambles thorny emerge
slowly their digits if not kept in
check conspire a painful nick.
I smile at afternoon
of grey mantle,
wind and rain beating
down on roof and panes,
while encouraged at the fact
I've not any reason to venture
out on this peaceful afternoon,
instead you and I salvage a game
or two of scrabble at our leisure,
pondering on the dappled leaves
that in the distance wave...their
colours now so vivid.
Clouds sail on beneficial to my sanity,
some might see a dark scowl, but I with
smile perceive freedom from sun's heat,
so thank you mother nature for this
indulgent pleasure...may it continue
till October.

I love roses too and you have caught exactly how I feel seeing them. Is this because of the new glasses? I really like how you have evoked the threshold of Autumnm, with inside you and your partner playing with scrabble tiles as the wind and rain plays with the tiles on your roof outside

Lovely, Jenny. That picture
Lovely, Jenny. That picture of having a game of scrabble safe indoors while it's tipping down outside - that's my idea of bliss too!

You draw attention so well to
You draw attention so well to looking at the wonderful detail of the gift of the view through a window on an inclement day (and those plants are glad of rain to continue to grow and flourish presumably). I would thank the Creator rather than a vague mother nature! Rhiannon

Beautifully written, perfect
Beautifully written, perfect descriptions of a rainy day, wind blowing and rain pouring down while you view it cozily from inside and playing a game of scrabble. ( I love scrabble) . It all sounds so inviting... and as you'd wished...I hope the cool weather visits you longer.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
this was beautifully expressed, and it was like hearing you speak it. Keep on with the diary idea.
I too play scrabble and find it a huge pleasure.
