[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

To whom to go if leaving You?
who else to know, who else can do
the needed things to wipe away
our guilt and sins so that we may
have God as Friend and Father wise
to love, defend, and wipe our eyes.

They came to see You feed and heal.
You came to be our Saviour real.
They want a King to free the land,
and do their ‘thing’ and make them grand:
not keen to hear rebukes to guide,
Your truth so clear, serve at Your side.

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:67-69

Your hymn reminds me also of when Jesus walked on the water and then Peter too, when Peter's faith failed Jesus took his hand and saved Peter from drowning.

"Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the waters, put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea."

I do think it is appropriate. He will never desert us. He will never forsake us. Were any of your hymns' words been used? In church or recordings etc?

Thank you, good points, lovely invitations. And his hand holds tight on ours then! When my father died quite young, we found he had underlined Peter's words in John 6 in his testament, which was an encouragment as he had been seeking the Lord, but somewhat unclear about faith before.

Some of my hymns have been sung, and I have recorded a few. And at present I am trying to sort them out into subjects again. I did once before, but now I think I have more variety of styles and messages. A lot of modern hymn-writing has been subjective testimony of worship, often personal experience. Such have their place, but I have tried to summarise Bible explanation and application I have been priviledged to receive and been helped by, and want personally to remember and sing about. I think that was more the approach years ago, and such summaries should lift our hearts in worship and praise as they remind us of all He is and all He has done and does now for us! Rhiannon
