Force Nine Gale

A silver haired woman furiously sweeps away the dust on her porch, the sheets on the washing line wave like a sail, the dust blows back into her face
In a force 9 gale
An ageing farmer drives his ancient tractor ploughing the soil, the crows follow dipping into the furrowed trail, looking for unearthed worms
In a force nine gale
An old sea dog steers his fishing boat through the rolling waves that want him out of their way, the crashing and slaps of water makes him pale

There’s a man in the woods, he likes to be alone, the sound of branches breaking, the sight of trees bending, make him vulnerable and frail

Rain keeps pouring from the burst hole in the sky, some folk are convinced they’re about to die as the wind changes from whistles to screams and wails
