anti depressants

I take these two orange pills every night
They dull out the pain the struggle and fight
They numb my senses until I feel
Nothing that this world deems real
In the world that has famine and hunger
I take the pills and begin to wonder
Whether or not they are worth taking
This empty feeling that they are falsely making
Through my body the toxic chemicals sore
To the extent that I contemplate not taking them anymore
But then the dark clouds will come back
And the demons and lightning will return and attack
So these two pills of orange I take
Then I fall asleep and hope when I wake
The world will somehow tell me to go get her
And that I will be feeling a little bit better.

This is really good. I think it encapsulates the issues / dilemmas of antidepressants really well for those who take them. I like how you’ve managed to include the routine submission to taking them too. It’s a sad poem, but an experience that is important to talk about as lots of people share this issue. :)

Echoing onemore's comment - it's a real dilemma which many people struggle with. I like the honesty in this poem - thank you for posting it

I concur with the plaudits of the other commentators but I have one little niggle: did you mean to use the word 'sore' in the first line of the third verse or did you intend 'soar'?
