My Village
Part 2
As you step in
It is must
that you will wash your feet dust
while wading through water
to reach the boat to crossover
and then while walking over sand
to reach the mainland
and then catches your eye
a papal tree plump and high
worshipped over generations.
Reasons are worth millions.
After river bathe
ladies pour with faith
water at its root portion
lying prostrate in propitiation.
Adjacent to it, is a banyan tree
Underneath Baraigoswain, the lord, worship we
Here every year since generations
when crops are left to grow on their own
in the sacred month of Kartik for a week
nonstop is cited the sacred Bhagwat, the greatest epic
Men women flock to listen to with unflinching devotion
forgetting their materialistic aspirations
and leaving their earthly burden
at home to mend on its own.
After half mile another banyan tree
at its base, the Goddess of the village, you will see
From evil spell and evil spirit, protects she, the village
Worshipped is she first, to bless before each marriage.
Besides these the villagers with full devotion
practiced the customs of adorations as in Hindu religions.
The village cakes with rice, coconut, and cheese after butter
prepared on such sacred occasions always tastes far superior
the earthen pot cooking behind it ardent love and affection
surely contributed to their good health unaware of medication.
Some may laugh at their worships taking those as superstition
or lack of wisdom, backwardness or narrow visions because of isolation
but the contentment and happiness they derived on their own.
with a leaf, a root, a fruit, prescribed by elders
they remained healthy and hearty devoid of pain and tears.
Thus illustrate I with an example
the laborer at jute extraction as a proof ample
To extract jute from its rotten cane they have to stay in the awful pond for many hours
with a smile, without grumble with a river bathe they retained their vigor and power.

in the service of Lord)
(As a continuation to my first pat of my village this the second part taking the reader to then-existing scenarios. Baraigoswain is an incarnation of Lord. In Hindu both form and formless incarnations of the Lord are worshipped.)
