Orion stretches, taut, across the hill;
Sirius gives a steady light
An arrow constellation glides beneath,
one corner flashing, bound for Hale
Across the brittle night,
spring prepares her rituals
Performed, this year, to empty seats

How lovely! Orion is my
How lovely! Orion is my regular companion on evening dogwalks! This really evokes the comparison between the dependability of the night sky and of the rhythms of the year with what we mortals are facing/doing/experiencing. Understated yet so, so clear. Beautiful!

Full many a flower

Full many a gem
Full many a gem of purest ray serene, the dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear.
From, Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard. The poem is by Thomas Gray.

Maybe we'll learn the benefit
Maybe we'll learn the benefit of warm smiles when we can't get near enough to hug! 'Making contact', 'Keeping in touch' real though not physical, and even largely by internet or telephone. Have to think about how to express genuiness of concern and offers of help.
Is Hale an airport? I liked the simplicity of the picture you've drawn. I hope many will be cheered by views of spring around them in one way or another. Rhiannon

Your poem set my imagination
Your poem set my imagination in motion, as I try to imagine looking up at Orion and Sirius, yet not being able to venture out.
You've captured our present situation really well in your words.
Jenny.
