Covid 19

This situation has me petrified ,

It feels a bit like genocide!

Lockdown is a scary word!

Especially from the Taoiseach’s mouth heard!

It's the worst hurricane I’ve ever seen,

35 years on this earth I've been.

Covid 19 has taken away our freedom!

Not through anything we have done!

Prisoners in her own homes it feels like we are!

It's the pensioners I feel for by far!

Cocooning when in place is no joke!

Isolating themselves from other folk,

It's all in the interest of safety!

About flattening the curve safely!

Will they do it? It's hard to say,

With new cases and deaths everyday.

I never thought I'd see the World War three,

Who knew it would be all about biology?

No Guns or bombs to be seen!

Instead Laboratories try for a vaccine.

I applaud those on the front line!

Solidarity they redefine!

I wish that I could do more!

But I'm stuck behind this door!

Family, friends, all fighting their own battle!

This illness, so contractible!   

When it's over we’ll face a recession,

Through debt will lose our possessions!

One way or another this virus will take,

Everything we have built to make!

A safer environment for our children!

That is if the virus does'nt kill them!
