Spencer

I hear a knock on the window,
And look out to emptiness,
The knocking persists,
I look into the abyss.
As I’m at the back door,
Quietly wondering,
But for a knock,
The silence deafening.
I stick my head out,
And witness a sight,
A seagull is knocking,
Then sees me and takes flight.
I laugh to myself,
And close the door,
An hour later,
A knock like before.
Spencer the seagull,
That’s the name we call,
When the knock comes,
Our defences fall.
Out with some bread,
Or any kind of food,
The knocking stops,
Spencer temporarily subdued.

"I hear a knock on the window"
"I hear a knock on the window", reminds of the Raven! But a nice cheerful little story! Sounds like you live close to the sea, and maybe you're being taken advantage of? Or the other way round?"
